Among our most treasured and fruitful collaborations in the Pittsburgh Review of Books during our inaugural year has been our media partnership with Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures in their 35th year. As part of our official partnership, we’ve had the opportunity to have a variety of both Pittsburgh-based authors and journalists, as well as those further afield, sit down and talk with luminaries like this year’s Pulitzer Prize Winner in History Jill Lepore, celebrity chef Padma Lakshmi, and Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Michael Chabon, among so many others.
We’re delighted then to be able to announce who you can look forward to reading interviews with for the 2026/2027 season, including:
- George Saunders – This September the beloved icon of American post-modern fiction will be speaking to PRoB about his new book Vigil.
- Mary Roach – In October one of the most consequential science popularizers, the author of such classics as Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers and Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex, will talk to us about anatomy and technology.
- Michael Lewis – That same month, financial journalist and author of the baseball classic Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game and The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine, will chat about his new book Blockers concerning government workers.
- Min Jin Lee – In November, National Book Award nominated author Pachinko, an epic family tale about Korean immigrants in Japan, will discuss her much anticipated novel American Hagwon.
- Nicholas Boggs – The archival researcher and biographer will sit down with PRoB in December to talk about his critically acclaimed 2025 Baldwin: A Love Story, written about at this site.
- Emily St. John Mandel – In February, author of the now-classic post-apocalyptic novel Station Eleven, Emily St. John Mandel will talk about her new science fiction novel Exit Party.
- Douglas Stuart – The Booker Prize winning Scottish-American fashion designer and novelist will talk to PRoB about fathers, sons, and the Hebrides in March.
- Edwidge Danticat – That same month, the canonical Haitian poet will sit down with PRoB in a conversation about her new novel Everything Inside.
- Arthur Sze – The brand new Poet Laurette of the United States will chat with us about his new book on verse in translation entitled Transient Worlds.
- Deesha Philyaw – Former Pittsburgher and PRoB contributor, as well as the author of the acclaimed Secret Lives of Church Ladies will talk to us about her much-anticipated The Tree Confessions of First Lady Freeman.
To say that we’re profoundly excited to bring ten more incredible conversations with some of the most important literary voices writing today would be a profound understatement.
