The Confluence: Pittsburgh Writers on Pittsburgh Writers will be the first collaborative volume published between The Pittsburgh Review of Books and one of our media sponsors the Carnegie Mellon University Press.
The anthology, which will be published in 2028, will feature over a dozen authors with connections to Pittsburgh writing about other authors connected to Pittsburgh, across a diversity of writers and a broad swath of time.
Lyrical, introspective, and celebratory, the collection is a means of both highlighting the contemporary literary community of the city while also appreciating the region’s literary history. While some previously published essays will be featured, most of the material will be completely original.
As part of the pedagogical mission of The Pittsburgh Review of Books, students in the Spring semester 2027 class dedicated to the magazine will be working directly on the editing of the volume.
